I wish I didn't have to write this review but I’m so glad we are far away from Dr Tam Lee’s hands. My mom had colorectal surgery almost 1 year ago in October and Dr Lee left a large open wound because it was going to “close on its own” he never checked in on her to see how she was doing and always seemed in a hurry at his appointments and at the hospital, now my mom’s situation has worsened and will also need a permanent urostomy bag and another colorectal surgery of over 12 hours long and have a skin graft because Dr’s say that should have never been left like that. We are so grateful to be in the hands of Dr Skandan Shanmugan at UCI now.

Dr. Tam Le is an amazing surgeon. About 10 years ago, he did 2 very necessary surgeries on me, and I have not had ANY problems since. I was so so sick and this man made me better. Thank you again, Dr. Le and his crew. Edit: I do remember that there could be LONG wait times to get in to see him, but it's because Dr. Tam Le listens to you and all of your concerns thoroughly and thoughtfully and he does not patronize you like some doctors do. Dr. Tam Le is worth the wait because he is knowledgeable and successful in his surgeries, I am proof of that.

Dr Tam Le goes WAY above and beyond! A few years back Dr Le was my surgeon and was so professional, kind and understanding! My son began having GI issues as well, ever since becoming an adult his Autism diagnosis has always made it difficult to find care. Dr Le has been a God send and my son and I will be forever great full for his help! (I just happens upon these reviews while googling his phone number and was shocked at some of the lower rating?!) while It is true, there are days when the wait is longer than anticipated there is good reason! he is such a good surgeon that everyone wants to see him! I’ve never known a doctor to work as long or as hard as he does…and all the while with a smile on his face!

First off, Mr Tam Lee is an amazing surgeon! He is highly recommended. His staff, the ladies are great too, the gentleman, Anthony, he needs to go through basic training. Unfortunately, he doesn’t really have answers to ANYTHING. If he answers the phones, good luck, just ask to talk to one of the girls. Upon my post op, I checked in and said, hello, I’m here for my 11 o’clock appt. He was right in front of me and just ignored me. The kind lady to the right looked over and said we’ll be right with you and to him to check me in. Again, Mr Lee is an amazing surgeon! I had hernia done with robotics!

Dr Tam Le was a lifesaver for me when I was diagnosed with colon cancer. During the next 19 months—he performed 6 surgeries for me. Two were intestinal blockages, total colectomy, etc. he is amazing and compassionate. Best Dr and surgeon I ever had.

Dr. Tam Le is an exceptional surgeon. He is very personable and caring. I've had multiple surgeries in the past with other surgeons and was hesitant to have another one. Dr. Le was very thorough in explaining why I needed to have it. His office staff return my calls promptly and are very responsive to my questions. Dr. Le is in such demand by other patients, but I am willing to wait a bit on the day of my appointments. I also know that when Dr. Le enters my room, he will take the time to listen and dedicate all of his focus on me.

EDIT: a few weeks later:
Had a second and third appointment at Dr Le’s office. For our first appointment (detailed in the original review below), Dr Le was a no-show, so we were seen by his colleague Dr Hwu—who wasn’t great, was quite the opposite of great, but this review isn’t about him. For our second and third appointments, we were fortunately able to see Dr Le. He’s a good doctor, competent, non-patronizing, patiently answers questions, clearly cares about his patients. As a result, I’ve raised my rating for his office. But, the problem remains that wait times are stupendously long—as long as three hours WITH an appointment. Based on asking other patients in the waiting room about their appointment times, it seems that this office double-books appointments, which is still inconsiderate of people’s time.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
We had an appointment at 1:30. Supposedly Dr Le was out and would be back in clinic by 2. More and more people—at least a dozen patients—filled the waiting room over this time. Only at 2:40 was the announcement made that the doctor would NOT be in today at all. Everyone’s appointments were cancelled—to be rescheduled over a week later. My dad received surgery last week and needs a follow-up appointment with a surgeon within the week—meaning that an appointment next week will not do. Fortunately, after I explained, the receptionist did reschedule us for an appointment later this week. Still, it’s pretty unprofessional to waste your patients’ and their loved ones’ time, Dr Le.
